Port of Hambantota: RoRo and Vehicle Terminals
Hambantota International Port Group (HIPG), a public-private partnership between the Government of Sri Lanka and China Merchants Port Holdings, has managed Hambantota Port since December 2017. It offers RO-RO services for transshipment and for local vehicle imports, and in July 2026 it said the port was accommodating more than 50,000 vehicles. Transshipment vehicles can be stored under bond for six months.
