Port of Mikawa: RoRo and Vehicle Terminals
Mikawa Port in eastern Aichi Prefecture borders the cities of Toyohashi, Toyokawa, Gamagori and Tahara, and has handled finished vehicle exports since 1978 and imports since 1988. Aichi Prefecture reported that it had been Japan's top port for imported vehicles by value and number for 26 consecutive years from 1993, with about half of the national share, and second for vehicle exports. Finished vehicles are the main export, import and domestic outbound cargo at the Jinno West public wharves, and are also handled at the Jinno East and Gamagori public wharves.
